Puyuan town in Tongxiang, Zhejiang province, home of China's largest wool clothing production, will host the 89th International Wool Textile Organization congress (IWTO Congress) in May 2020.

The IWTO Congress, hailed as the Olympics of the world's textile field, is set to bring more opportunities for the already thriving wool textile industry in Puyuan to develop further.

The town's wool industry began to take shape in 1976. Over the past three decades, the town has witnessed sustained development in this sector by virtue of scientific and technological innovation.

So far, more than 6,000 wool clothing companies have settled in this 64-square-kilometer town, employing a total of 20,000 workers.

"The IWTO Congress 2020 will not only further increase the popularity and influence of Puyuan's fashion industry, but also will serve as a platform where companies from home and abroad can seek exchanges and cooperation opportunities," said a local official.

Launched in 1930, the International Wool Textile Organization is a non-governmental international organization representing the interests of the world's wool textile trade and industry. Its membership includes the entire wool textile pipeline, from wool producers, traders to garment makers and retailers of wool.
