A group of international students from Zhejiang Normal University experienced the art of pottery-making in Wuyi county, Zhejiang province on June 3.

Over 70 students from more than 30 countries and regions such as the United States, Russia, Morocco and Syria gathered at a local workshop to learn the process of making a successful pottery product, including shaping, carving and polishing.

Wuyi has a long history of pottery-making with an estimated 130 Wuzhou pottery kilns discovered in the county. Wuzhou pottery kilns originated during the Three Kingdoms period (AD220-280), and flourished in the Tang Dynasty (AD618-907). Now, the ancient kilns are able to produce the potteries in large quantity.

Listed as the fourth national Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014, the ancient craft has been increasingly revived in recent years with a modern twist so locals and non-locals can enjoy the activity.
