The squeaks of an old manual loom are bringing back memories of the old days in Huangwan town of Haining, Zhejiang province.

In recent years, the town has been dedicated to reviving and preserving old weaving skills by repairing weaving tools and gathering together some elderly weavers.

"When I was young, people always used handmade cloth to make clothes," recalled Wu Meifen, a 68-year-old woman who used to be a skilled weaver. Wu regrets that nowadays young people know little about weaving and thought that measures should be taken to pass down the old heritage.
