As an East China Sea fishing ban starts on May 1, fishing vessels in Wenling, a county-level city under the umbrella of Taizhou, Zhejiang province, have docked at ports and wharfs.

The fishing off-season will last four and a half months, from May 1 to Sept 16. During this period, marketing of eight kinds of fresh seafood including hairtail and portunid is prohibited.

The coastal city of Wenling boasts a prosperous fishing industry thanks to its advantageous geographical location and abundant ocean resources. The seafood output in the city has ranked among the top in China and first in Zhejiang for many years.
