A 120-square-meter pavilion named "Picturesque Zhejiang", displaying an assortment of culture and tourism-related products from East China's Zhejiang province, was unveiled to the public at the Asian Culture and Tourism Exhibition in Beijing on May 16.

More than 20 organizations and enterprises from eight Zhejiang cities showcased distinctive handicrafts reflecting the province's picturesque scenes and rich culture, such as puppets and lacquer ware, to global visitors during the three-day event.

The exhibition not only served as a display platform, but also a window through which craftspeople can learn from each other.

Zhang Yunqu, a puppet show performer from Pingyang county in Wenzhou, said he visited the pavilion of Guangdong province and was particularly drawn to the puppets from the city of Meizhou.

"Learning how other people practice the art could help us improve our own show," said Zhang.

Chen Canyuan is the director of a shell carving museum in Wenzhou. He observed the designs from Afghanistan and Nepal at the exhibition, saying the exotic patterns inspired him. Chen believes that the application of local culture and tourism is key to improving global popularity.

The Asian Culture and Tourism Exhibition, which aims to showcase the integrated development of culture and tourism among Asian countries, was part of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations. Zhejiang's participation was expected to arouse interest in its nature and culture and attract more visitors to the East China province.
