A homestay owner in Moganshan, Deqing county of Zhejiang, demonstrated the traditional way of making zongzi, the pyramid-shaped dumpling of glutinous rice wrapped in reed leaves, for his guests on June 2.
Several visitors from Spain were invited to try their hands at washing rice, wrapping it in leaves and tying up the dumplings with twine.
Making zongzi is a tradition for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, which will fall on June 7 this year. Every year, Chinese people will eat the special snack to commemorate Qu Yuan, an ancient loyal minister to whom the festival is dedicated.
