7th Wuzhen Theatre Festival set for October

The seventh Wuzhen Theatre Festival, with the tagline "Emerge", is scheduled to be held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province from Oct 25 to Nov 3.
A total of 28 plays from 13 countries and regions will be staged in the water town, according to a news conference on Aug 2.
The special plays for this year's event are divided into five categories, including master's works and avant-garde plays. Three Sisters, a Russian drama in four acts written by Anton Chekhov and directed by Yury Butusov, will open the festival on Oct 25.
In addition, the event will feature a competition for young theatre artists, outdoor festivities, and several artist dialogues.
The Wuzhen Theatre Festival has been held every year since 2013. With contemporary international theatrical performances, the festival has rapidly grown into a landmark event with influence around Asia and the world.
Tickets for the seventh Wuzhen Theatre Festival's plays will be sold on the official website (www.wuzhenfestival.com) and Damai (www.damai.cn), an online ticketing platform, starting Aug 18.
