Zhejiang's major scenic areas receive nearly 8 million visitors over May Day holiday
Scenic areas throughout Zhejiang province rated 4A and above received 7.96 million visitors over the May Day holiday, according to statistics from the provincial department of culture and tourism.
A total of 455 scenic areas throughout the province received reservations from more than 1.6 million visitors, 75.89 percent of whom were locals.
Many scenic areas made use of advanced technology to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection. Scenic spots in Ningbo used big data to monitor the flow of visitors and control density; Xiangshan Film and Television City and Xixi Wetland used AR glasses to check visitors' temperatures; while Hengdian Film and Television City gave out a special wristband to each visitor to monitor their temperatures.
To ensure the safety of visitors, the provincial department of culture and tourism arranged for six inspection teams to ensure that all scenic areas had taken sufficient precautions.
All scenic areas in the province strictly followed government regulations by requiring reservations in advance and reducing maximum visitor capacity by 70 percent.
