Zhejiang province in East China has made four breakthroughs in building the province into a pilot area for comprehensive reforms in national standardization, according to a report released at a meeting May 7.

The report said that the province made several breakthroughs in international standardization, when in 2019, Zhejiang formulated 22 international standards, a record high for the province in a year.

In 2019, Zhejiang held the Yiwu International Small Ware (Standard) Expo, which became the world's first standardized expo.

The Research Center for BRICKS National Standardization was founded in Zhejiang, and the center held the first meeting on national standardization involving ministers of BRICKS countries during the 83rd IEC conference.

The Hangzhou International Standardization Conference Base held 41 international conferences in 2019, which were attended by more than 310 Zhejiang companies.

China Jiliang University founded a league involving universities to take part in the research into national standardization.

Zhejiang also made a breakthrough in standardization of the digital economy. The province founded an innovation league for digital economy standardization. The province formulated 58 standards for Zhejiang manufacturing in the digital economy.

The province made another breakthrough in formulating standards for social governance. The province aimed to establish a system for grassroots-level social governance standards.

The last but not the least breakthrough was when the province formulated standards for increasing prosperity in rural areas. Zhejiang issued a series of standards involving the integrated development of the first, second and tertiary industries in rural areas and reform of the property rights system.

Officials from the Zhejiang market regulation bureau said that the province will continue to improve prosperity in rural areas, developing the digital economy and the manufacturing industry as well as boosting the modern service industry.
