The 2020 Hangzhou Asian Games Football Dream Campaign, initiated by the organizing committee of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and the Young Footballer Growth Fund of the Adream Foundation, has recently resumed.
The campaign is meant to provide support for 2,022 schools throughout Asia by donating equipment, offering courses, and organizing camps and competitions to get more teenagers interested in soccer before the start of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
Officials from the organizing committee said that this year's campaign will allow middle schools to participate in addition to elementary schools.
Schools selected for the campaign will have an opportunity to send representatives to attend the opening ceremony of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
Due to risks posed by the coronavirus, this year's campaign will offer free online soccer courses for children.
Since the campaign was first launched in May 2018, it has selected 500 schools throughout 27 provinces and municipalities in China for participation.
More than 400 college students have served as volunteers at the campaign's summer camps. Last summer, a group of volunteers visited 25 primary schools in rural areas and spent an unforgettable summer vacation with more than 2,300 local children.
More than 3.92 million people have donated to the campaign via Alipay, a mobile payment app belonging to Alibaba Group.
Schools intending to participate in the campaign can download the "Power Up Asian Games" (赋能亚运) App and submit an application.
