New high-speed rail to link Hangzhou, Hefei

The Hefei-Hangzhou section of the Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou High-speed Railway will start operating on June 28, according to a local media report on June 22.
The new railway can support speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, and it will shorten travel times between Hangzhou, Zhejiang province and Hefei, Anhui province for people living in Hefei, Wuhu, Xuancheng, Huzhou, and Hangzhou.
People will be able to travel between Hangzhou and Hefei in just two hours.
The new section passed the safety assessment of the China State Railway Group on June 19. It is expected to boost regional economic growth, alleviate pressure on the Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway, and accelerate the integration of the Yangtze River Delta.
