Nanhu Lake scenic area in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province received the largest number of visitors in a single day on July 1, local media reported.

July 1 marked the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Nanhu Lake, being the birthplace of the Party, received a large number of CPC members who came to pay their respects to the boat which hosted the First CPC National Congress 99 years ago.

July 1 also marked the first day that the scenic area opened to the public free of charge, which led to an increase in the number of visitors on the day.

Mid-lake Island, where the Red boat is berthed, and Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall, an institution that promotes, protects, and manages the site of the First CPC National Congress, were the most popular scenic spots.

According to a staff member from the memorial hall, visitors must make an online reservation and can only enter the hall at predetermined times.

He also reminded visitors to prepare their health QR codes, ID cards, and wear face masks before entering the hall in order to speed up safety inspections.

In addition to Nanhu Lake scenic area, Jiaxing has a total of 172 Red tourism scenic spots, which focus on CPC history, and houses 1,132 cultural relics related to the fight against Japanese invaders.

A senior official from the Jiaxing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television and Tourism said that they will further promote the development of Red tourism as a way to advance the construction of a high-quality Jiaxing.
