Europe-bound freight train carries medical supplies to Spain

A China-Europe freight train from Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang province arrived in Madrid, capital of Spain, on June 29 carrying facemasks, protective suits, and other medical supplies.
The freight train carried 25.05 million surgical masks and 400,000 sets of protective suits weighing nearly 257 tons.
The medical supplies were purchased by local government departments in Spain and transported on the China-Europe freight train departing from Yiwu to help alleviate local shortages.
The train left Yiwu on June 5 and arrived in the Spanish capital on June 29.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China has made strong efforts to promote international cooperation, safeguard the stability of global industrial chains and increase exports of medical supplies and life necessities to other countries.
As of June 30, a total of 294 China-Europe freight trains leaving from Yiwu had been operated, transporting 24,466 20-foot equivalent units (TEU) worth of containers, an increase of 117.1 percent from the same period of last year.
