An intercity train with the service number S2102 arrived at Hangzhounan Railway Station on July 1, after the Shaoxing Intercity Railway was extended into Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

The railway started to pass through Yuecheng, Keqiao, and Shangyu districts in Shaoxing in 2018 and was then extended into Ningbo last July. It now spans 148 kilometers and stops at six stations located in the three Zhejiang cities. The six stations, namely Hangzhounan, Qianqing, Shaoxing, Shangyu, Yuyao, and Ningbo, are embedded in the metro networks of the three cities.

The intercity trains run at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. Tickets are economically priced – the price for a ticket from Shaoxing Station to Hangzhounan Station is a mere six yuan ($0.85).

The Shaoxing Intercity Railway is part of Shaoxing's efforts to further integrate the Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Ningbo metro area. The interconnectedness of the three cities will provide a boost to their industries, technology, finance, education, healthcare, and public services, according to an official from Shaoxing.
