The Zhejiang Provincial Postal Administration recently launched an environmental protection program in the province's express delivery industry.

According to the program, the Zhejiang Provincial Postal Administration will cooperate with the province's main express delivery companies, delivery package manufacturers, universities and research institutes, certification authorities, government departments, and industry associations to establish a green delivery package group and form a closed-loop management system for the production, use, recycling, and circulation of delivery packages.

"Focusing on the manufacturers of delivery packages and major delivery companies, we will set higher environmental protection standards, ban the use of toxic and harmful materials, and enhance the eco-friendliness of the entire express delivery industry,"said Zhao Haizhong, director of market regulation at the Zhejiang Provincial Postal Administration.

In addition, the administration has established platforms to encourage major delivery service providers to recycle packages, as well as a blacklist system for delivery service providers and package manufacturers.

Zhejiang is a major province in China's e-commerce and express delivery sectors. The province's express delivery business volume between January and June stood at 7.16 billion packages, up 27.85 percent year on year.
