Digitalization fuels rural vitalization in Deqing
Deqing county of Huzhou has been playing a role in promoting digital technologies to achieve rural vitalization in East China's Zhejiang province. A shining example in the county is Wusi village, where a digitalized rural governance platform has been launched.
On the platform built using Internet of Things technology, management can monitor the real-time status of the whole village via a three-dimensional map. They will be alerted in case of any abnormalities, such as if a road lamp goes out, said Sun Guowen, Party chief of the village.
Sun made the briefing to a delegation of officials from the departments of cyberspace and rural affairs and agriculture from 11 cities in Zhejiang attending a provincial government conference focusing on digitalized rural construction recently held in Deqing.
On April 11, Deqing and tech giant Alibaba Group partnered to promote digitalization in the county's rural areas. A digitalized rural governance platform jointly built by the two sides has been launched.
About a month later, the nation's first digital rural research institute was inaugurated in Sanling village in the county.
Meanwhile, Deqing has rolled out a three-year action plan to advance the development of intelligent agriculture. To date, it has completed construction on 10 intelligent agricultural demonstration parks.
The county has ranked first in Zhejiang in terms of agricultural modernization for five consecutive years. It also places first nationwide in terms of the digitalization level in agriculture and rural development.
A head government official pledged that more efforts shall be made to promote the integration of digital technologies in local industrial development so as to fuel rural vitalization.
