Jiaxing, Zhejiang University start overall strategic co-op
Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province started comprehensive strategic cooperation with Zhejiang University (ZJU), according to a signing ceremony held in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, on July 14.
The cooperation agreement states that the two parties will focus on the development of Jiashan county in Jiaxing as a demonstration area for the integrated ecological development of the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region.
In addition, Jiaxing will increase support for the International Campus of Zhejiang University in Haining county, Jiaxing in order to build it into a role model for international cooperative education in China.
The agreement also states that the two parties will establish Jiaxing Institute of ZJU in the city's Xiuzhou district based on the demand of industrial development in Jiaxing.
Ren Shaobo, Party secretary of ZJU, said at the signing ceremony that ZJU and Jiaxing should take this partnership as an opportunity to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship, cultivate more outstanding professionals, and attract innovative resources to achieve high-quality development.
Wu Zhaohui, principal of ZJU, expressed hope that the two sides can expand cooperation fields and make innovations in communication mechanism by the comprehensive strategic cooperation.
Zhang Bing, Party secretary of Jiaxing, thanked ZJU for its long-term support, and expressed her hope that the two sides will increase cooperation in the future.
Mao Hongfang, mayor of Jiaxing, briefed attendees on the city's economic and social development, saying that the city has a strong economy and burgeoning development potential.
