The Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee announced on July 15 that the "Lucid waters and lush mountains" water sports challenges will be launched on Sept 9, two years before the 2022 Asian Games Hangzhou.
The organizers hope to showcase the beautiful scenery of Zhejiang, encourage people to exercise in nature, and express enthusiasm for the upcoming international event.
"Water" is a key word for the activity. At the main venue in Hangzhou, a famous canoe champion will lead more than 300 kayakers down the Qiantang River, which will connect the important venues of the Asian Games. Sports enthusiasts can search for Asian Games in Alipay to learn how to sign up.
Netizens can also participate in the activities online. The "Empower the Asian Games" account will hold the online event simultaneously. Users can share and interact with each other by making posts related to outdoor sports.
A walking and jogging challenge was launched on the Codoon Sports App and is open to all. During the online release conference on July 15, an official from the organizing committee made his first step and encouraged others to follow.
Another 10 cities in Zhejiang, including Ningbo, Wenzhou and Jinhua, will also hold similar water sports activities to integrate tourism and sports.
