The 17th Huanglong Fishing Launch Festival was held in Nangang village, Huanglong township in Shengsi county on Sept 10, following the end of an annual fishing moratorium.

The islanders held art performances and worship rituals before their fishing vessels set out to sea in hopes of a bumper harvest.

Huanglong township, occupying 300 square kilometers of land and sea, consists of 23 islands. The local fishing tradition dates back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
