Jiashan attractive to investors
Jiashan, a county in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, ranks third among the top 100 Chinese counties in terms of attracting investment, local media reported on Oct 12.
The list was released by the Insight China magazine along with several authoritative government departments and professional institutions, which evaluated 2,657 counties on the Chinese mainland (excluding 103 Hubei counties).
Jiashan has ramped up efforts to improve its business environment this year.
The county has established an online platform to serve local companies, which were visited by roughly 79,000 people and dealt with 803 issues, implemented preferential policies to attract more high-profile professionals, and offered more loans to manufacturing and small and medium-sized companies.
Jiashan has specified its modern industrial system, which includes four emerging industries – digital economy, healthcare, new energy, and new material, and three strong traditional industries – equipment manufacturing, wood furniture, and textiles and garments.
In order to attract more investment, Jiashan has established an investment attraction team and dispatched more than 1,000 people to promote Jiashan in Shanghai and other key cities throughout China.
The county has secured 156 projects this year, including five worth more than 5 billion yuan ($741.78 million).
In the first nine months of this year, the Jiashan government approved 28 foreign-funded projects with $642 million in contractual utilization of foreign capital, accounting for 64.25 percent of its annual goal.
