From January to September, Shaoxing China Textile City reported a trade value of 90.52 billion yuan (about $13.42 billion), up 10.39 percent year on year, local media reported on Oct 12.

Online sales during the pandemic accounted for over 43.26 billion yuan, up 11.26 percent, while the market saw 4,480 newly registered entities, 1,338 of which are engaged in trade in service.

This marked a strong recovery for China's largest textile market, which covers an area of 3.2 million square meters and serves as a microcosm for the business climate in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province.

Known as the "Textile Capital of China," Shaoxing is famous for its light and textile industries and flourishing private economy.

Shaoxing is one of the most economically prosperous areas on China's east coast, with textiles being its strongest industry. It trades more chemical fabrics, socks, neckties, and textile fabrics than any other place in the country.

The China Textile Market, located in Keqiao, is the nation's largest textile product specialty market and largest piece goods distribution center in Asia.

The city is home to a professional textile market, represented by China Textile City and the Qianqing textile raw material market. It contains the most complete textile industrial cluster in China.

Shaoxing is also the world's most important production center for ties and socks and the largest production center for chemical fiber fabrics, printing, and dye processing in Asia.
