East China's Zhejiang province saw its gross domestic product (GDP) grow 8.1 percent year-on-year to more than 7.35 trillion yuan ($1.16 trillion) in 2021.
The coastal province managed to stage a strong recovery quarter on quarter after the COVID-19 pandemic was quickly contained across the country.
Its GDP grew 8.1 percent year-on-year to 7.35 trillion yuan ($1.16 trillion) in 2021, according to the provincial government work report delivered on Jan 17 at the annual session of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress.
Zhejiang's exports rose 19.7 percent year-on-year to 3.01 trillion yuan last year. The figure accounted for 13.9 percent of the country's total.
Its actual utilization of foreign investment reached $15.8 billion in 2020, an increase of 16.4 percent over 2019.
