More than 7,000 nucleic acid testing sites had been built in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province as of May 4, according to the Ningbo Municipal Healthcare Commission.

In Haishu district, four pharmacies have been transformed into makeshift testing sites, with another 97 due for a similar transformation. Licensed pharmacists will be responsible for taking samples for nucleic acid tests at these drugstores, thus reducing the need for medics.

The city has also made the testing service available in the evening in an effort to offer convenience to office workers.

As of May 5, its Fenghua district in Ningbo reported 21 new COVID-19 cases, all of whom have been transferred to designated places for medical treatment.

According to local epidemic control and prevention authorities, people taking public transportation vehicles including bus, taxi, ferry and subway in Ningbo's urban areas must test negative for COVID-19 within 48 hours prior to boarding.
