Against the backdrop of white walls and black tiles in the distance as well as plant-infested water and graceful reflections to the fore, a pair of senior citizens is tending to their dried bamboo shoots.
Such an idyllic scene was captured in ancient Zesui village, Longyou county in Quzhou.
The 700-year-old village is dotted orderly with slate-paved streets and 159 ancient buildings, 28 of which were established in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the rest in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Zesui also possesses three 600-year-old camphor trees and six ancient wells.
Thanks to the repair and upgrading work by the local government, the ancient village is able to reserve its ancient flavor and old way of life.
