Quzhou holds meeting to promote common prosperity
The Quzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China held a news conference on Nov 4 promoting common prosperity in Quzhou, the prefecture-level city located in East China's Zhejiang province.
The conference had the theme "Quzhou's high-quality development and construction of a common prosperity demonstration zone as a four-province thoroughfare city" (special session in Kecheng district), according to local media reports.
Zhu Sufang, Party secretary of the Kecheng district, presided over the news conference and said that Quzhou had done particularly well in its economic and social development over the past five years, achieving the major goals set out in the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
Moreover, it had targeted innovation-driven growth and would now move to expand its international cooperation in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
Projections are that by 2025 the income gap between urban and rural residents in Quzhou is projected to narrow. The ability of low-income groups to earn more money and increase their living standards is also expected to improve significantly.
Under the new plan, Kecheng has launched a slew of ecological industrial parks to build high-end green industry platforms – realizing a targeted output value of 10 billion yuan ($1.56 billion) and creating 10,000 new jobs by 2025.
To date, the eco-friendly industry platform in Kecheng district has introduced projects with a total investment of 3.68 billion yuan ($446.62 million), including two projects of more than 1 billion yuan and four projects of more than 100 million yuan.
