Longyou county and Zhaoxian town in Changshan county, Quzhou, were recently selected as the homes of Wuju opera in Zhejiang province at the county-city level and township level, respectively, according to the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

Wuju is the main type of opera in Longyou county. It has a history of more than 400 years and many fans.

The county has staged more than 300 public performances to date. Every year, villages in the county invite private troupes to perform more than 1,000 plays in the countryside.

Zhaoxian town currently has one professional Wuju opera troupe and one private troupe.

The town's Wuli Primary School has been teaching Wuju opera for 11 years, and it was named the intangible cultural heritage teaching base of Zhejiang province. 

In additions, the town has set up five Wuju opera art popularization demonstration sites.
