Quzhou enterprises benefit from RCEP agreement

Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) took effect on Jan 1, 2022, 14 of the 15 member states have implemented it.

Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province can issue certificates of origin under the RCEP to 13 countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar and Indonesia.

A total of 819 enterprises in the city traded with RCEP member countries from January to November 2022, accounting for 70 percent of all foreign trade enterprises in the city.

Trade with RCEP member countries reached 20.4 billion yuan ($3.01 billion), a year-on-year growth of 38.3 percent. Exports were valued at 12.7 billion yuan, up 35.6 percent year-on-year, while imports were valued at 7.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 42.9 percent.

In addition, to give enterprises an in-depth understanding of the RCEP and maximize preferential policies, the city has held more than 20 training sessions focusing on customs clearance facilitation measures, RCEP rules of origin, and tariff concessions.

As of Nov 2022, the city had issued a total of 551 RCEP certificates with a value of $444.59 million, reducing tariffs by $451,000.
