Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province issued 710 certificates of origin with a total value of 409 million yuan ($60.35 million) under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) in 2022, reducing tariffs by 4 million yuan for importing countries, according to the Quzhou Customs.

Certificates of origin under the RCEP to Japan issued by the city accounted for 97.3 percent of the total.

The city's exports of agricultural products have benefited under the RCEP, especially exports to Japan.

A total of 57.8 percent of the city's agricultural products now enjoy zero-tariff treatment in Japan.

The city's chemical industry has also benefited from the RCEP.

Last year, Quzhou Customs issued RCEP certificates of origin for exported chemicals worth 318 million yuan, reducing import tariffs by about 1 million yuan.

Zhejiang Quhua Fluorine Chemical Co Ltd in Quzhou is the largest fluorine chemical production base in China. Its products are mainly exported to Japan and South Korea.

Thanks to the RCEP, the company's exports to RCEP member countries increased by 32.7 percent last year, said Xu Liang, the company's foreign trade salesman.

The city can currently issue certificates of origin under the RCEP to 13 countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar and Indonesia.
