Jiangshan's foreign trade sees record high
The imports and exports of Jiangshan, a county-level city in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, expanded 35.5 percent year-on-year to 6.01 billion yuan ($880 million) in 2022, a record high, according to the Jiangshan office of Quzhou Customs.
The rapid growth of the city's foreign trade can be attributed to private enterprises.
The total value of the imports and exports of private enterprises amounted to 5.88 billion yuan in the past year, a rise of 36.8 percent year-on-year and accounting for 97.9 percent of the city's total.
In the same period, imports and exports of foreign-funded enterprises in the city reached 100 million yuan, an increase of 8.6 percent.
The city's trade with the United States, South Korea, Japan and the European Union stood at 1.08 billion yuan, 760 million yuan, 300 million yuan and 270 million yuan, up 1.4 percent, 21.8 percent, 34.2 percent and 18.4 percent, respectively.
The city experienced substantial growth in imports and exports to emerging trade markets such as ASEAN, Latin America and Africa, reaching 1.03 billion yuan, 500 million yuan and 440 million yuan, up 79.1 percent, 86.2 percent and 37.6 percent, respectively.
In addition, the city's trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 2.41 billion yuan, an increase of 45.6 percent, while trade with countries under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) totaled 1.66 billion yuan, a surge of 55.6 percent.
