Quzhou among top 100 cities in innovation

Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province ranked 61st in the 2022 list of China's top 100 cities in innovation capabilities released by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China.

Quzhou's ranking was 10 places higher than in 2021.

Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an, Suzhou, and Changsha made the top 10 on the list.

Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces have more balanced urban innovation development, with more than 90 percent of their cities making the list.

By the end of 2022, the Ministry of Science and Technology had supported 103 cities and districts in becoming national innovation-oriented cities.

The 103 innovation-oriented cities accounted for 51 percent of China's population, received 85 percent of China's R&D investment and 72 percent of local government investment in science and technology, cultivated 85 percent of China's high-tech enterprises, generated 81 percent of China's high-tech enterprise revenue, and accounted for 67 percent of China's GDP.
