Quzhou residents see improved health literacy
Quzhou residents' health literacy level reached 38.97 percent in 2022, meaning that among 100 people aged 15-69, 38 people had basic health literacy, an increase of 3.04 percentage points over 2021.
Health literacy is the ability of individuals to access and understand basic health information and services, and to use these information and services to make the right decisions to maintain or improve their own health.
The monitoring results showed that the basic health knowledge and concept literacy level of Quzhou residents was 47.75 percent, the healthy lifestyle and behavior literacy level was 38.27 percent, and the basic skills literacy level was 31.98 percent, which were all more than that of last year.
Health literacy is affected by political, economic, cultural, educational and other factors and is a comprehensive reflection of the city's economic and social development levels.
The health literacy level of 15-20 year olds was the highest (77.88 percent), while that of 65-69 year olds was the lowest (7.26 percent).
Residents with college degrees or above had the highest literacy level (78.97 percent), while illiterate residents had the lowest level (3.51 percent).
There was also a difference between urban and rural areas. The health literacy level of residents in urban areas was 40.26 percent, while that of residents in rural areas was 38.1 percent.
