Quzhou's Longyou port sees record cargo throughput

The cargo throughput of Longyou port in Quzhou, Zhejiang province totaled a record 21,000 metric tons on Feb 20.
As of Feb 20, a total of 365,400 tons of cargo had been handled at the port this year. The cargo throughput is expected to reach 780,000 tons of in the first quarter, an increase of 20 percent compared with the same period in 2022.
In recent years, Longyou port area has given full play to its advantages and strengthened business cooperation with other ports, including ports in Jiaxing and Zhenhai in Zhejiang province, Jiangyin in Jiangsu province, Zhoukou in Henan province and Jining in Shandong province.
The designed annual throughput of the first phase of Longyou port was 3 million tons, and the throughput of the port exceeded 3.5 million tons in 2022.
The second phase of Longyou port's construction is expected to be finished at the end of the next year, with a designed throughput of 3.7 million tons.
Since the opening of the Longyou port, its cumulative cargo throughput has amounted to nearly 10 million tons, saving more than 200 million yuan ($28.83 million) in transportation costs for local companies and creating a steel and coal transfer market.
