Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province has explored and promoted the construction of a carbon account system and pioneered a carbon monitoring and calculating system since 2021.

So far, 2,396,000 carbon accounts have been established in seven major fields, including industry, agriculture, transportation, and people's daily lives, laying the foundation for reforming the market-based operating mechanism of dual carbon goals.

Zhejiang Zhefeng New Materials Co Ltd, located in Changshan county, Quzhou, relies on the carbon footprint application of industrial products in the carbon account system to analyze carbon emissions in the production process and carry out transformation and upgrading.

For example, an application showed that electricity consumption accounted for a high proportion of in the company's carbon emissions. In response, the company reduced emissions by using rooftop photovoltaic power generation.

In Kecheng district, a digital application scenario under the carbon account system featuring garbage sorting was used in various communities. When residents engage in garbage sorting or recycling, the system can calculate the reduction in carbon emissions according to the type and weight of the garbage and offer personal carbon credits. Residents can exchange carbon credits for local agricultural products and rural tourism consumption coupons.
