Camellia oil from Quzhou gains in popularity
The sales and signing ceremony for new camellia oil products was held in Changshan county, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on March 10.
New products such as camellia oil corn peptide and grapefruit camellia makeup remover oil launched at the ceremony are the latest achievements of Changshan county's cooperation with Zhejiang University.
Sales contracts worth a total of 27.98 million yuan ($4.05 million) were signed during the event.
It was the first time that the camellia industrial chain extended into the cosmetics and health care fields.
In October 2022, Zhejiang Changfa Grain, Oil and Food Co Ltd began cooperating with the Institute of Modern Chinese Medicine of Zhejiang University. Through consumer big data analysis, collection of market reports and product analysis, the two developed a series of health products and cosmetics based on camellia oil.
Changshan county has so far planted 280,000 mu (18,666 hectares) of camellia trees, producing more than 1,800 metric tons of camellia oil. The county's planting area and output of camellia both ranked first in Zhejiang province.
The county is home to eight camellia oil processing enterprises, and the annual output value of processing and sales exceeds 300 million yuan.
The total value of the county's camellia industrial chain has reached 1 billion yuan.
