Quzhou's tourism market has been booming since March.
The city received 4.37 million tourists in March, an increase of 57.62 percent compared to the same period last year, and an increase of 45 percentage points compared with February, the highest growth rate in Zhejiang province.
Ten tourist trains recently carried over 500 people each from Anhui, Hunan, Sichuan and Shanghai to Quzhou.
"The company started planning travel routes before the new year, involving many famous cultural sites such as Longyou Grottoes, Shuitingmen Historical and Cultural Block, Yaowang Mountain and Temple of Southern Confucianism," said Zhou Fawei, general manager of Quzhou Fengshang Tourism Co Ltd.
In the coming period, the company expects to receive at least 5,000 visitors from Shanghai, Taizhou, Hangzhou, Zhoushan and Ningbo, added Zhou.
According to Lan Xiaocheng, general manager of Quzhou Qucheng Tourism Co Ltd, in mid-to-late April, 2,000 Hong Kong tourists will visit Quzhou, mostly middle-aged and elderly people. In May, there will be a tour group from Malaysia.
The growth in tourism would not have been possible without the government's strong support. Many tourists say they chose to come to Quzhou after watching videos recommended by the director of the Quzhou cultural tourism bureau. Policies such as free admission to world natural heritage sites and 5A scenic spots have also had an effect.
