Kecheng included in provincial program
Kecheng district in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province has been included in a provincial pilot program aimed at bolstering the cultural industry in rural areas, the Zhejiang Province Department of Culture and Tourism announced on April 10.
The district, which is renowned for Confucianism, Buddhism, and Go, is currently home to 10 provincial-level intangible cultural heritage items and 17 protected cultural sites.
Authorities have in recent years been tapping its cultural resources like solar term culture, Wuxia culture, ICH techniques, and farmers' paintings to bolster rural tourism.
Authorities have also introduced business models related to cultural and creative products, study tours, homestays, accommodation and catering to its villages as part of efforts to drive its rural vitalization endeavors.
As of the end of 2022, the district had 500 homestays, 300 family farms, 19 cultural enterprises above designated size, 13 camping sites, and six 3A rural scenic attractions. Kecheng's tourism revenue last year was 1.02 billion yuan ($148.44 million).
