Quzhou sees boom in tourism during May Day holiday

Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province received a total of 1.22 million tourists over the May Day holiday, an increase of 95.42 percent year-on-year.

A total of 522,000 tourists stayed overnight in the city, a whopping increase of 180.54 percent year-on-year. The per capita expenditure of tourists reached 921.76 yuan ($133.41), which was 1.7 times the national average.

Tourists from outside the province accounted for 17.06 percent of all tourists this year, mainly from Shanghai, Jiangxi and Jiangsu.

The average room rental rate of star hotels in the city was 67.82 percent, up 22.95 percent compared with the same period in 2022 and up 2.59 percent compared with the same period in 2019.

The city's key scenic spots received 600,400 visitors, a surge of 951.32 percent compared with 2022, generating 9.86 million yuan in ticket revenue, a year-on-year increase of 1,042.96 percent compared with 2022.

The top three scenic spots above national 4A-level in terms of number of tourists during this period were the Root Palace Buddhist Cultural Tourism Zone, Jianglang Mountain and Nianbadu Resort, and Shuitingmen Historic and Cultural Block.

During the holiday, more than 80 cultural and tourism activities were held in the city, along with 346 rural performances.
