Jiangshan, a county-level city of Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, was designated as the hometown of sealwort in China, according to local media reports.

Jiangshan is located in the natural distribution area of sealwort. Its sealwort planting area currently sits at 42,000 mu (2,800 hectares).

the city is home to over 50 traditional Chinese medicine enterprises, professional cooperatives, and family farms, as well as over 100 planters engaged in the sealwort industry.

In 2021, "Jiangshan sealwort" was included on the national agricultural product geographical indication protection list.

In addition, Jiangshan sealwort seeds entered space with the Shenzhou XII spacecraft to carry out experiments on space sealwort breeding, seedling raising and cultivation.
