Quzhou's foreign trade off to strong start in Q1

The imports and exports of Quzhou in Zhejiang province stood at 15.75 billion yuan ($2.17 billion) in the first quarter of this year, according to Quzhou Customs.

Exports surged to 11.27 billion yuan, an 18.4 percent year-on-year increase.

The city's exports were primarily driven by electromechanical, high-tech, and labor-intensive products, which amounted to 4.26 billion yuan, 2.13 billion yuan, and 1.24 billion yuan, respectively. These figures represent substantial growth rates of 80.4 percent, 70 percent, and 66.1 percent year-on-year.

Quzhou's foreign trade with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 7.62 billion yuan, while traide with members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership reached 5.35 billion yuan.

The city's trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Latin America, the European Union, the United States, and Africa totaled 2.87 billion yuan, 2.28 billion yuan, 1.72 billion yuan, 1.41 billion yuan, and 520 million yuan, respectively.

Exports to the United States amounted to 1.29 billion yuan, showing a year-on-year increase of 28.7 percent.

Imports and exports of Quzhou's private enterprises reached 13.22 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 1.3 percent.
