Quzhou in Zhejiang province has over the past three years been making efforts to advance its drive toward common prosperity.

For example, authorities have been focusing on attracting more high-quality projects to strengthen its pillar industries, aiming to lay a solid material foundation for common prosperity.

During the same period, the city has launched 13 manufacturing projects, each with an investment exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.38 billion). It has also seen the addition of 12 new companies listed on the main board, bringing the total to 18. The total industrial output value of enterprises above designated size has surged from 190.21 billion yuan in 2020 to 291.31 billion yuan in 2023.

The local government has implemented a raft of measures to narrow the income gap between urban and rural residents, including launching 10 special actions for urban and rural development. As a result, the per capita disposable income of rural residents reached 9,434 yuan in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 8.9 percent.

Authorities have also channeled more resources into creating a series of public cultural facilities to provide mental and intellectual enrichment for residents.

In addition, authorities have initiated programs to provide labor skill training to help residents secure employment and increase their incomes.
