Quzhou seeks further cooperation in Hong Kong, Macao
From May 20 to 24, a delegation from Quzhou, Zhejiang province, led by Party secretary Gao Yi, engaged in a series of friendly exchanges, investment promotions, and project inspections in Hong Kong and Macao.
In Hong Kong, the delegation met with Yin Zonghua, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Carrie Lam, the fifth chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
During the discussions, Gao expressed hope that the Hong Kong Liaison Office and Mrs Lam would continue to support and strengthen exchanges between Quzhou and various sectors in Hong Kong.
Both Yin and Lam affirmed their commitment to enhancing the link between Hong Kong and Quzhou, promising to explore potential cooperation in economic and trade investment, education and technology, and cultural tourism.
The delegation also visited several key institutions, including the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Alumni Association of Zhejiang University, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, extending invitations for field surveys in Quzhou.
At the Quzhou Promotion Conference held on May 21, Gao highlighted the deep connections and collaborative exchanges between Quzhou and Hong Kong through captivating stories of cultural integration, people-to-people interactions, and economic and trade exchanges.
During the event, three significant projects were secured, covering areas such as life and health, new energy, and financial services.
In Macao, the delegation met with Yan Zhichan, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region. Gao expressed Quzhou's willingness to work with Macao to foster close ties between universities and research institutions, and continually enhance economic and industrial cooperation.
Yan noted that Macao would continue to leverage its unique advantages to collaborate with Quzhou, creating broader prospects for cooperation.
The delegation's visit also included meetings at the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai Association of Macao and the Macau Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce, expressing hope that these associations would build more platforms and provide greater support for deepening exchanges and cooperation between Quzhou and various sectors in Macao.
Additionally, the delegation visited the University of Macao and toured the BEYOND International Technology Innovation Expo and the Macao Museum of History.
