The Quzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone, located in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, recorded a total value of traded imports and exports of 106 million yuan ($14.77 million) from June 11 to July 11, according to data from Quzhou Customs.

The bonded zone started operating on June 11. As the first comprehensive bonded zone in the mountainous western region of Zhejiang, it offers significant advantages to businesses, particularly in reducing logistics and storage costs.

Local companies like Quzhou Port Construction Supply Chain Management Company have streamlined their operations. Bulk imports such as wood pulp no longer need to be repeatedly moved in and out of warehouses and checkpoints. With a simple system declaration, goods can now transition from "bonded" to "non-bonded" status, facilitating storage and distribution.

"Using direct transfers within the zone, our import-export processing efficiency has increased by 60 percent, potentially saving nearly 1 million yuan annually in short-haul transport costs," said a company representative.

In the zone's warehouses, a batch of imported spinning machines worth over 33 million yuan is neatly stored, awaiting tax exemption procedures before installation.

The import manager at Sumec Corporation said, "Previously, such situations would force us to store machines at ports, incurring significant demurrage fees. Now, with the bonded zone nearby, we not only solve storage issues but also cut over 100,000 yuan in storage costs."
