Deputy highlights green transformation in Kaihua county, Quzhou
As the fourth session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress and the fourth session of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference commence in Hangzhou, common prosperity is a topic of focus among deputies and committee members.
Chen Deshui, a deputy to the Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress and chairman of Zhejiang Huakang Pharmaceutical, emphasized the green transformation in Kaihua county, Quzhou, which is turning natural treasures into drivers of sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
Kaihua's innovative revitalization of ecological resources is key to such efforts. Jinxi bamboo rafting, offering picturesque views of the Majin Creek, is helping to boost rural tourism, while local workshops and online platforms are creating jobs. Forest rights reforms have turned natural assets into "green banks", and the Longding Tea Town's upgrades ensure year-round tea production, increasing farmers' incomes.

Once hindered by limited transportation, Kaihua, located in the mountainous area of West Zhejiang and the source of the Qiantang River, is now thriving thanks to the Hangzhou-Quzhou high-speed railway and a developing transport network, including a general aviation airport and the Hangzhou-Chun'an-Kaihua expressway, which is currently under construction. The Kaihua Reservoir supports local life and industrial growth.
Public services have improved, enhancing residents' quality of life. Idle spaces have been repurposed into childcare centers and multipurpose facilities, while sports parks offer recreational opportunities.
