Yiwu, a county-level city in Jinhua, East China's Zhejiang province, is the biggest distribution center of small commodities in China and the world.
Over 15,000 merchants from some 100 countries live in Yiwu for business. After the "A total of five water treatment" provincial environment campaign started in Zhejiang in 2014, the activities of these international businesspeople became an important environmental factor.
Azizullah Mir Wau has been living in Yiwu for 15 years. "When I first came to Yiwu, I was exhausted from the 50-hour trip from Afghanistan and planned to go back home in a week," he recalled, "but then I realized I could sell products to my country to make money. Now I sell products from Yiwu to many countries, including Afghanistan, Syria and the UK."
Several weeks ago, Azizullah donated 50,000 yuan ($7,287) to Dachen town of Yiwu for water protection and was awarded an honorary title of "International River Chief" by the local government. "I do business in Yiwu. I live in Yiwu. Yiwu is my second hometown," said Azizullah.
