Profound cultural foundation
Yiwu is known for filial piety. In 222 BC, Qinshihuang, China's first emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) set up Wushang county, which was renamed Yiwu in 624. Over the past two thousand years, Yiwu has bred a large number of celebrities such as Luo Binwang, a renowned Chinese poet of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Zong Ze, a famous general of the Song Dynasty (960-1279), Zhu Danxi, a famous doctor of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), Fu Dashi, a master of Zen Buddhism during the Southern Dynasty (420-589), Chen Wangdao, a modern educator, Feng Xuefeng, a literary theoretician, and Wu Han, a historian. Therefore, the place has formed a profound cultural foundation, and created a spiritual home of its own.
