Yiwu Middle School, once named Yiwu County Junior School, was set up in 1927. It added a senior school in 1952 when it was renamed Yiwu Middle School. It was rated in the Zhejiang province's first batch of first-class key middle schools in 1995 and in the province's first batch of first-class featured demonstration schools in 2014.
Covering 31 hectares, the school's green coverage ratio reaches to more than 48 percent. It has micro-classrooms, teaching buildings featuring biology and geography, as well as a meteorological station and an earthquake observation station.
The school has 50 classes with 2,389 students and 200 teaching and administrative staff members. Many students from the school enroll each year at the University of Science and Technology of China, the National University of Defense Technology, the Communication University of China and the Central South University.
