In 2019, 2 million people traveled through the airport in Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang province, according to local airport authorities.
The Yiwu International Airport saw 1.29 million tourists in 2017. The number has been growing fast with the expansion of international airlines and the improvement of airport services.
In August, China Postal Airlines launched the first cargo air route from Yiwu to Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan. International flight routes linking Yiwu and Malaysia, South Korea, Cambodia, and the United Arab Emirates are also being planned.
In November, Yiwu International Airport passed the World Health Organization's evaluation to become an international health airport, becoming the 13th Chinese airport to receive the prestigious honor.
The airport enjoys a favorable location, as it is only 5.5 kilometers from downtown Yiwu, 4.3 km from the exit of the Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressway, and 4 km from Yiwu Railway Station.
In the future, it will introduce more companies from the field of aviation, and construct a logistics hub to develop the aviation-related economy of the city.
