Gangyao village in Yiting town is abundant with argil resources. It started to exploit argil and build a kiln at the end of the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

There were six ancient dragon kilns in the 1930s and 1940s. The pottery industry in the village reached its peak in the 1970s and 1980s when its products were sold to Hong Kong and Southeast Asia. These days, two dragon kilns are preserved. There is also a pottery exhibition gallery.
