Yiwu to offer prizes for international makers

The 2020 International Maker Innovation Contest has kicked off in Yiwu, Zhejiang province. Winners can receive up to 50,000 yuan ($7,310) in prize money.

The contest is being held by the Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the municipal government of Yiwu. 

Expats studying or working in China are eligible to participate.

All submissions must have independent intellectual property, be innovative, and have commercial potential. Submissions related to digital trade, digital finance, new retail, livestreaming, and e-commerce are encouraged due to the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

The application period is from Aug 25 to Sept 21, and the top 50 entries will be selected for the finals.
