A matchmaking event revolving around exports was held as part of the 2020 World Yiwu Entrepreneurs Conference at the Yiwu World International Conference Center in Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang province, on Sept 29.
The event was attended by delegates from a number of international commerce chambers and companies looking to explore trade opportunities in other countries, particularly in Africa and Middle East.
During the event, a representative from the Yiwu commerce bureau briefed attendees on Yiwu's imports and exports in recent years. He said that African and Middle Eastern markets have been among the city's most important trade partners.
Delegates from a number of companies in Yiwu also shared their experiences exploring markets in Africa and the Middle East.
Yiwu plans to set up over 100 overseas exhibition and trade platforms in cities with close trade links in an effort to offer international trade opportunities for more than 10,000 small and medium-sized companies.
Yiwu has also teamed up with Alibaba to build the Electronic World Trade Platforms (eWTP) to provide intelligent logistics services for trade companies around the world.
